Alberta Foundation for the Arts

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) is a crown agency of the Government of Alberta formed in 1991. This year, $22.6 M  from lottery revenues will be distributed by the AFA to individual artists and arts organizations in the visual, performing and literary arts, and cultural industries, an increase of $2.34M over last year. As the result of annual Foundation support to more than 1,200 grant applicants, Albertans enjoy an enhanced quality of life through opportunities to participate in the arts.

Community Facility Enhancement Program

To provide financial assistance for the expansion and upgrading of Alberta 's extensive network of community-use facilities.

Community Initiatives Program

The Community Initiatives Program will support project-based initiatives in areas such as community services, seniors' services, libraries, arts and culture, sports, education, health and recreation. The maximum grant will be $75,000 per project per year, and applications can be submitted anytime throughout the year.

CIP funding is approved on a matching grant basis. The matching requirement may be met in the form of any contribution of money, volunteer labour, services, or donated materials or equipment for the project. If a group can demonstrate significant difficulty in raising matching funds, up to $10,000 will be considered on a non-matching basis.

Wild Rose Foundation - Quarterly Grants Program

The Quarterly Grants Program supports community service non-profit organizations in their ability to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow by investing in the lives of people from children to older persons - to live in strong, caring and healthy communities. The Quarterly Grants Program goes beyond providing financial resources by working with others in our communities to support life-enhancing programs and services.

Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation

To enhance the quality of life in Alberta , the ASRPWF provides financial support to eligible sport and recreation organizations through the:

Coach and Official Development Initiatives which provides opportunities to further coaching development in Alberta .

Development Initiatives Program which provides support to Albertans working in the areas of sport, recreation, parks and wildlife for project and program related endeavors.

Hosting Program  which encourages the development of youth in sport, recreation, parks and wildlife and promotes economic growth in Alberta .

Sport Participation Initiative Program which provides supports for the development and operation of programs designed to enhance participation in sport for under-represented groups.
